Monitoring Post Office Protocol Servers
Post Office Protocol comes in a number of version, for example version 3 (POP3).
A POP (or IMAP) Server is the server that you connect you when you send or receive e-mail. (See also Internet Message Access Protocol)

To monitor an Email Server in Site Watcher enter the IP Address of the Server, set the Type to 'Port Ping' and enter Port 110 for POP3, 109 for POP2; Port 143 for IMAP.

To monitor a Email Server in TIM or BAM set the Type to 'Server Monitoring', the Server Type to 'TCP IP', the Measure Type to 'Port Ping', and enter the IP Address of the Server and use Port 110 for POP3, 109 for POP2; Port 143 for IMAP.

Site Watcher , Tech Infrastructure Monitor and Business Activity Monitor can all monitor POP and IMAP Servers.
