Monitoring Virtual Network Computing (VNC) Servers
VNC is a desktop sharing system which uses the RFB protocol to remotely control another computer. It transmits the keyboard and mouse events from one computer to another, relaying the graphical screen updates back in the other direction, over a network.
Popular uses for this technology include remote technical support and accessing files on one's work computer from one's home computer, or vice versa.

To monitor a VNC Server in Site Watcher enter the IP Address of the Server, set the Type to 'Port Ping' and enter Port 5800
Port 5800 (also 5900) is used for Servers, Port 5500 for Listening Viewers

To monitor a VNC Server in TIM or BAM set the Type to 'Server Monitoring', the Server Type to 'TCP IP', the Measure Type to 'Port Ping', and enter the IP Address of the Server and the Port used (Typically 5800, 5500, 5900).

Site Watcher , Tech Infrastructure Monitor and Business Activity Monitor can all monitor VNC Servers and Listening Viewers.

System Analyst
A system analyst is the person who selects and configures computer systems for an organization or business. His or her job typically begins with determining the intended purpose of the computers. This means the analyst must understand the general objectives of the business, as well as what each individual user's job requires. Once the system analyst has determined the general and specific needs of the business, he can choose appropriate systems that will help accomplish the goals of the business.
