Document: Monitoring a TCP Server with Business Activity Monitor
Monitoring of a TCP IP Server process has three options
1 - Local Endpoint Monitoring. Use this when the server to be monitored resides on the same computer as BAM.
2 - Local or Remote Monitoring by Port Ping. A 'Port Ping' opens a socket to the specified ip address and port.
This process has been suspected of providing a false reading in some circumstances (probably related to port forwarding).
3 - Local or Remote Monitoring by Custom Data Stream. This option allows you to specify the complete packet to be sent to the server. Any response is considered a success.
In this example, we will add a Local Endpoint Monitor.
